Two-factor authentication is a process by which an additional layer of security (second factor) is added to your account; widely used by institutions that care about the safety of their users.
In Mercury Cash it involves the generation of a 6-digit random code that expires quickly (30 seconds), which must be used when logging in to make it difficult for unauthorized people to violate security and prevent them from accessing your account; that is why its use is mandatory in order to operate on our platform.
How to configure two-factor authentication?
When setting up your account for the first time, or by resetting your authentication, a message will appear inviting you to protect your account by activating 2FA. As shown in the following image.
By pressing the button, a QR code will appear on the screen, which you must scan with your mobile using the Google Authenticator App. To do this press the plus symbol (+) located in the upper right corner of your mobile screen; there you must select whether you want to scan the code or add it manually.
If you choose to scan, you just have to focus on the code with your mobile and frame it within the green box. If you choose to add it manually, you will need to enter the email address associated with your Mercury Cash account, and the key, which is the series of numbers and letters that appears just below the QR code. Then put the code that the application will generate in the boxes located below and press the configure button.
How to use the authentication code?
When entering your email and password to log in, at the bottom of the window you will see the 2FA field, where you must write the six-digit code, keep in mind that this code changes every 30 seconds.
